Lars (of Work Bites "fame") sits on the counter at Ahab's while Ahab the Whale convinces him to do crazy things. @____________@ The whale makes ME do crazy things, too! Like draw weird pictures like this. Lars, Work Bites, etc, is property of myself (J. Stoncius) and TOKYOPOP, 2005. Done in painter classic and photoshop...yeah, there is a filter on this, and yeah, I shouldn't use photoshop filters (I have to go to artiste jail now), but it looked cool.

This is sort of "extra art" from Work Bites in the sense that it's not from the comic, but I don't draw my characters enough outside my comic.
The whale is Ahab, the corporate mascot of Ahab's Coffee, which is where Lars happens to work. So, I guess it could be interpreted, too, as corporate America forcing people to do things they really don't want to do....in this case, sitting on a counter! (I don't think you're supposed to sit on counters when you work at a coffeeplace). But I really just drew this because I thought it would be funny and not really to make any sort of statement about corporate America. XDXD Or DID I?!?!?
Note also that Ahab the Whale sports pithair and five o' clock shadow, two of my most favorite things to put on cartoon whales.
Ahab's just so funny because Lars is such a foil to him... he's all grumpy and surly looking, and Ahab's so ridiculously and cartoonishly happy.
(Yes, I love weird things on fucked up animals too... so the pit hair was not seen before, but is duly noted now a heavily laughed at.)
